Amazon.com Product Description Uvex MP-VI Melanin Polarized Sunglasses offer ultra-effective eye protection from the sun. These glasses reduce the risk of age-related cataracts and macular degeneration, and also work to reduce eye fatigue and glare. The lens' main protective component is melanin, a naturally-developed and powerful defense against sunlight damage. Uvex's patented process formulates melanin into a matrix of poly carbonate, creating the ultimate lenses for sun protection. These lenses are also polarized, adding additional protection against reflected glare, which is particularly useful when near snow or water.

uvex April 5, 2008 In one word, it's awsome. The UV protection (due to melanin) is meant to be 28% more then RayBan's which is also higher then any other leading brands like Okley's. Highly recommend to buy UVEX.
Thank you Jayesh

I own a pair of uvex sunglasses and have been very happy with them, but this particular model was a disappointment to me. The frame was designed in such a way as to only fit a very narrow face and nose. If your nose is wider than a birds beak, than you can forget about it. I can say this with some authority, because I have a quite narrow face and nose and they still didn't fit me. They would be better suited, if marketed towards children.
Awsome glasses -- but I hope you have small face! October 15, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These glasses are excellent -- if you have a small face!
I am a six-foot tall man with an average head -- and I feel like these glasses are tiny on me! They are too narrow, and seem to sit a bit too high on my nose. Honestly, I would not recommend that you purchase this particular pair of sunglasses unless you have a smaller head and/or a narrow face. (Instead, you should buy them for your 12-year old).
Now, that being said...
The melanin lenses are awesome! When I wear them, I can see the colors red and yellow a lot better than I can in regular sunglasses. (The melanin lenses preserve color a lot better than your typical sunglasses do).
I e-mailed the manufacturer and they told me that these glasses block 100% of UVA and UVB rays.
I also wear these whenever I play video games! The melanin seems to improve the contrast of the TV screen. I would estimate that I can see the screen 5-10% better while wearing them. I plan to buy a pair of melanin glasses that don't have tint; I think they'll really save my eyes when I'm on the computer or watching television.
Seriously, I love the contrast that the melanin lenses provide. Unfortunately, I don't think these sunglasses will fit very comfortably on 75% of its buyers.
GREAT sunglasses October 1, 2007 These are fantastic...best sunglasses I have ever had. Great fit and very light. Polarized and melanin features are fantasic.
Uvex Melanin Polorized Sunglasses August 9, 2007 These are an awsome set of sunglasses for driving, they are somewhat stylish but are an excellent product really does reduce glare and I guess Melanin is good for your eyes too. But I love these pair of sunglasses I hope I never lose them. Worth every penny I paid for it
