About Okuma Starting as so many companies do as a spin off, in 1987 Okuma had humble beginnings as an OEM manufacturer. The founders came with decades of fishing tackle manufacturing experience, and although small, Okuma has always been a different kind of company. Under the leadership of the president and owner Charles Chang, the company has had a vision and a focus. Today Okuma is a driven company with and extremely diverse, loyal and motivated group of employees, agents, and customers. The Okuma focus is a pure and total dedication to development, raising the standards of what they can produce and what is expected, with an eye always to value. Destined to be one of the premier tackle companies in the new millennium, Okuma does not look for inspiration from other manufacturers, instead they find inspiration in fishermen. From the weekend warrior to tournament pros, the company is committed to the needs of fisherman.

great gift January 17, 2010 T. Kulupka (Aurora, IL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i bought this item as agift for my husband. he seemed to like it. it fits together and takes apart very well. i like the size as it can fit in carryon or checked luggage. and this is the only reel and rod set i found with a soft zippered case. very nice
Nice setup for travel January 11, 2010 capndino (Reno) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a good, compact unit for travel and camping. The rod assembles easily and seems to be of good quality. It is stored in sections, not telescoping. The reel was a little difficult to set up and adjust, but worked well when everything was assembled. The case is nice quality, but not lightweight ripstop - a little bulky and heavy for serious backpacking.
Lead Warning? December 31, 2009 J. Silveus 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this for my kids for Christmas and on the handle is a warning that the product contains lead. Where is this lead? Is it somewhere trivial like inside the reel where I could care less, or is it in the handle materials for which I would want to return this item as I don't want my kids using it if it's going to constatly be rubbing lead onto them. The label warning was on the handle, but that doesn't really mean anything as far as location of the lead goes.
lcontains lead chemical!!! December 2, 2009 S. kang (OC,CA) 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this fishing pole for my son,but
Warning Sticker read
"This product contains lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, and other reproductive harm etc"
So,I return the product to amazon....I would not recomend product contain Lead Paint on fishing rod...
