Excellent!!!! January 27, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've played this game more than my son! It is very realistic, and exciting. You have to know what you're doing to land a 16 pound Florida Largemouth!!!!! You have to compete well enough to advance to the next tournament(4)and to earn different lures. After advancing through the four tournaments, there is an invitational where you compete for all-tournament champion. You fish in different seasons as well as different bodies of water, from forest, parks, city, to to a place with aztec ruins. You will enjoy this game, if you enjoy fishing.
Top Angler...The worst fishing game ever January 8, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the worst fishing game I have ever played. The graphics are sub par the gameplay is limited and fighting a fish is frustrating. Save your money.

I agree with previous.....way too limited. You cant even decide what rod or line strenght you want. All u do is pick your lure, cast and reel in. Very arcadish game. The graphics are very pretty though and the bass look sooo real! Definitely not a serious fishing sim...ala Trophy Bass 4. I havent tried Bass Strike but from the reviews it sounds better.
Decent but Disappointing... April 3, 2002 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I was really excited about this title, and ran out to buy it the day it came out in stores. I was expecting a great fishing game, based on previews I had read along with some nice looking screen shots. The game overall is very limited. One of the biggest problems I have with it, is the fact that you only have a handful of lakes to fish, and are forced to fish only a few hundred feet of the lake, under a preset view, and casting range. If this game had allowed the player to drive the boat anywhere on the lake, and fish at any point, most likely I would have given this game a 4 (giving this game more replay value). The graphics are not too bad, but not really up to par with the capabilities of PS2. The camera angles sometimes are very frustrating, however the fish look and move very realistically. The sound could have used some work... For one, You can't shut off that annoying background music, and there's no background sounds of nature (like birds, wind, etc.), which is something that I particularly enjoy and look forward too when I'm fishing for real. Game play is a little too easy and not very realistic. It seems all the fish so far go for all the lures, and almost every fish I reel my lure past, bites. All in all, its a halfway decent game to play, however it will get old quick, and after a few weeks, either end up sitting unplayed and collecting dust, or on your too-sell-on-ebay list. Rent this first before you buy!
